Family Day: Inhabit - Quiet Hour (picture: Towner Eastbourne)

Join us for a more relaxed experience this Family Day, one hour before the main event. What stories could you wear, and what character might you become? Join artists Ting Cheng and Rose Miller to create imaginative masks using cardboard, leaves, fabric and other curious materials, create familiars with dough, and speed sculpt in our giant lift! A playful Family Day inspired by autumn, folklore and the stories we invent together. This a free, ticketed event is for families with children and young people with additional support needs who would benefit from a quieter session with a higher adult to child ratio.

Towner has step-free access, spaces available for buggies, a baby-change and cafe on the ground and second floors. Our two quiet spaces are The Ravilious and Collection Library (first floor) and the Cinema foyer (ground floor). We have sensory bags including noise-cancelling headphones and fidgets available to collect from the ground floor foyer to use for your visit. Extra noise cancelling headphones are available, please speak to a member of the team in Studio 1 to collect a pair. There is a Changing Places facility in the building next to Towner, please let us know in advance if you may require one and we can organise access.

Ting Cheng is a Taiwanese-British artist based in Brighton, working across photography, sculpture and installation. Inspired by everyday life, nature and the objects around us, she transforms familiar and discarded materials into playful and unexpected artworks. Her intuitive approach embraces experimentation, imagination and chance, inviting people of all ages to discover humour, curiosity and new possibilities in ordinary things.
