The Men They Couldn’t Hang are a band that evolved from the Shepherd’s Bush squatting and busking scene in 1984. They have gained a passionate national following with their uproarious and engaging style, coupled with keenly contemporary songs. The band has toured continually throughout their career, crossing the globe and appearing at festivals such as Glastonbury and Cambridge Folk. They have also appeared with international artists like David Bowie and Elvis Costello. After the passing of founder member Stefan Cush, the band is responding by writing, recording, and playing live to their loyal and growing community of fans. In 2026, they will continue touring and plan to release a brand new album.
